Frequently Asked Questions

  • I work with adults navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship stress, and life transitions — people who think deeply and feel deeply. often to the point of exhaustion. Many are doing their best to hold it all together yet feel disconnected from their own sense of calm, purpose, or connection. In therapy, we’ll work toward greater clarity and wholeness by bridging the space between ourselves, others, and the life we want to create.

  • You can reach out through my contact form or email me directly. I offer a free 20-minute consultation call to help us determine if we’re a good fit and to answer any initial questions. If it feels right to move forward, we’ll schedule your first full session.

  • The first session is as much about me learning about you as it is about you getting a sense of whether I’m the right fit for you. You’ll have space to share what’s bringing you in, and I’ll ask questions to better understand your needs, values, and goals. We’ll talk about what you’re hoping for in therapy, and I’ll offer my impressions of how we might work together. Most importantly, it’s a chance to see if it feels like a good fit. I prioritize building a sense of safety, warmth, and connection from the very start, so that therapy feels like a place where you can be real and feel genuinely supported. Plus, I always make sure you leave our first session with at least one skill you can start using right away.

  • I currently see clients virtually throughout California using a secure video platform. This format allows for flexibility and consistency, and it helps therapy fit naturally into your life wherever you are.

  • Individual therapy sessions are $300 per 50-minute session. Payment is due at the time of each session and can be made by credit, debit, HSA, or FSA card. Sliding scale options are available for individuals from groups historically impacted by racial trauma or systemic injustice. Please reach out at dyan@drdyanconnelly.com if this applies to you.

  • I am an out-of-network provider, which means I don’t bill insurance directly. However, if your insurance plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, I can provide a monthly superbill for you to submit for possible reimbursement. If you’d like guidance on this process or want to check your specific benefits, I’m happy to walk you through it.

  • There’s no single answer. Some people come for a few months to focus on a specific issue, while others stay longer to do deeper, more exploratory work. Most clients start with weekly sessions and may space them out over time. We’ll check in regularly about your goals and what feels most supportive.

  • Yes. What we discuss in therapy stays private, with a few exceptions required by law (such as imminent risk of harm or court order). I’ll review these exceptions in our first session so you always know what to expect.

  • “Bridging the Space Between” captures the essence of therapy: reconnecting with yourself, deepening connection with others, and aligning with the life you want to live. My work is about helping you close those gaps, cultivate connection where there’s been distance, and learn to inhabit your life more fully.
